David Callicott – Chair
I’m David and I have been chair of NCA since its beginnings in 2001. I have used my skills gained working as a Maths teacher by volunteering in the Homework Club; I have also volunteered in the Community Laundrette and currently volunteer for the Macmillan Solutions project. Over the years I have seen the services develop and become the robust projects they are today. I Live in Longsight with my wife Barbara who also volunteers in the Next Step Project.
Marsha Brooks – Deputy Chair
I’ve been on the NCA board since April 2011 and started out as a volunteer in the Social Enterprise Community Laundrette which I loved and did for 5 years. I’ve lived in Longsight all my life, it’s where I call home. I have recently joined the NCA Volunteer Steering Group. Given the chance I like to travel, particularly going on city breaks. I fell in love with Barcelona but I visit London at least once a year and never tire of it.
David Hanson – Secretary
I have been a local resident for something like 30 years and became involved with the NCA since July 2001 which was during the planning for the traffic calming measures in the late 90s. Formally my board position is Secretary – but thankfully this does not involve lots of typing – Hurray! Because of my work commitments I don’t get involved with day-to-day activities, but undertake more strategic tasks on the board. My interests include fell walking, reading, conservation/environmental work, industrial archaeology and running real ale beer festivals.
Elizabeth Gear – Treasurer
I joined NCA as Treasurer in April 2019. I reached out to join NCA as I think that their role in the community is incredibly important and wanted to offer my help wherever possible. I am ACA qualified with a wealth of experience in audit, so can offer help with regards to financial records and governance. I look forward to supporting the NCA through the future with the wonderful staff and volunteers.
Phil Doyle – Trustee
I joined NCA as a trustee in Oct 2018. I’m excited to work with the NCA team and contribute to all the great work done for the community of Northmoor by utilising my experience gained from working as a senior manager in the telecoms industry. Originally from Birmingham, I moved to Manchester in 1989. I currently live in Sale with my family where I enjoy cycling and walking my dog.
Jordan Lewis – Marketing Trustee
I have been a marketing trustee since October 2019. I’m an ex-journalist with nearly a decade of experience across the Marketing & PR spectrum, for a mix of global brands and start-up companies, I now work in Marketing & Communications for another South Manchester based not-for-profit. After developing a corporate sponsorship with one of the UK’s leading charities in a previous role, I am now looking forward to helping Northmoor Community Association increase its brand awareness, to ensure it receives more much deserved sponsorship.
Lynn Leggat – Co-opted, non-voting member, SIRO, Safeguarding Adults Board Representative
I was co-opted onto the NCA Board in 2017 to offer advice about marketing, income generation, social media, online fundraising and implementing the NCA business plan. I had been working with NCA for around 3 years and wanted to contribute to the growth and development of this fantastic organisation. My background as a Director of a social enterprise, 4 Steps CIC and in various community development roles within Manchester City Council has given me skills that are helping NCA to review and improve its marketing and income growth strategies. I am the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) of the NCA which means I am accountable to the Accounting Officer for risks in line with GDPR. I have three grandchildren who keep me young and a dog who keeps me fit. I work part time in a small upcycling business and I am a freelance consultant and I hope to share my new upcycling skills in some creative workshops at NCA in the future.
Helen Rowe – Trustee
I joined NCA as Trustee in February 2020 after finding out more about the amazing work going on at the community hub and so far it has been wonderful to be able to be part of the Board and give advice and support where I can. I’m a professional fundraiser with 15 years in national and regional charities, fundraising and events, both in the UK and abroad.
Gemma Shepherd – Safeguarding Children Board representative Trustee
I joined NCA in February 2020 to help support the organisation, with a specialist interest in areas of growth and fundraising. I feel very strongly about the work that the NCA do, especially for children and young people. I have worked in the charity sector since graduating from the University of Manchester in 2006. I started my career working for a Manchester-based health and social charity provider, and have since held numerous roles since leading development and fundraising functions. I hope that the skills and experience I have gained in my career can benefit the on-going success of the NCA. I live in North Manchester, with my husband and son.
