Chair

I’m David and I have been chair of NCA since its beginnings in 2001. I have used my skills gained working as a Maths teacher by volunteering in the Homework Club; I have also volunteered in the Community Laundrette and currently volunteer for the Macmillan Solutions project. Over the years I have seen the services develop and become the robust projects they are today. I Live in Longsight with my wife Barbara who also volunteers in the Next Step Project.

Deputy Chair

I’ve been on the NCA board since April 2011 and started out as a volunteer in the Social Enterprise Community Laundrette which I loved and did for 5 years. I’ve lived in Longsight all my life, it’s where I call home. I have recently joined the NCA Volunteer Steering Group. Given the chance I like to travel, particularly going on city breaks. I fell in love with Barcelona but I visit London at least once a year and never tire of it.

Secretary

I have been a local resident for something like 30 years and became involved with the NCA since July 2001 which was during the planning for the traffic calming measures in the late 90s. Formally my board position is Secretary – but thankfully this does not involve lots of typing – Hurray! Because of my work commitments I don’t get involved with day-to-day activities, but undertake more strategic tasks on the board. My interests include fell walking, reading, conservation/environmental work, industrial archaeology and running real ale beer festivals.

Trustee

I joined NCA as Trustee in February 2020 after finding out more about the amazing work going on at the community hub and so far it has been wonderful to be able to be part of the Board and give advice and support where I can. I’m a professional fundraiser with 15 years in national and regional charities, fundraising and events, both in the UK and abroad.
