Renters’ Right Act 2026
Staff from the Northmoor Hub attended the Manchester Advice Forum on Friday 20th March where they were informed about the incoming changes and the implementation timeline of the Renters’ Rights Act. The Act comes into force on the 1st May 2026 which will see the end of Section 21 eviction notices. By the 31st of July 2026 any existing possession claims become invalid.

By late 2026 the Landlord registration Database begins rolling out allowing tenants to check whether their landlord is registered.
Once the Renters’ Rights Act comes into force rent can only be increased annually through the serving of a section 13 notice with 2 months advance notice provided and the rent will be limited to market rates. Tenants can challenge any rent increases at tribunal who will limit any decision to the original rent increase request so as to remove the risk of tenants challenging the request.
